Our Philosophy … "Learning Through Play"

  • It's all about play!

  • Play is a child's work.

We believe:

  • children should be valued as individuals;

  • PLAYING and TALKING are the ways in which young children learn about themselves and the world around them;

  • all learning should be meaningful and fun;

  • children learn through hands-on experience;

  • what children CAN DO rather than what children cannot do is the starting point in their learning;

  • learning should cater to the needs and interests of individuals;

  • the process of learning is more important than the end product;

  • children develop their Spiritual, Social, Emotional, Physical and Cognitive skills at differing rates;

  • parents are the first educators of children and have a vital part to play in the establishment of their child’s learning environment.

Guidance and Discipline It is natural that when children are learning and growing socially, sometimes conflicts can occur. At Rainbow Preschool, our teacher uses a problem solving approach to resolve any conflicts. She helps the children to recognize what is happening and to generate some ideas for solutions to these problems. When the children are a part of the process it gives them the confidence to deal with any hurdles. Also, they learn to trust adults and get help when needed.
