Portable Trebuchet suitable for SCA
use.
I wanted to build a larger, but portable, Trebuchet to chuck
things larger than golf balls. I also wanted the whole machine to fit in a short
box truck when it was disassembled. I didn't know about the SCA when I built
this machine but it's now employed for that purpose.
The machine strips
down into six basic parts: the frame, the arm, two side supports, the cross
frame and the counterweight box.The counterweight is a wooden box, which is
filled with earth/stones/gravel at the site. After use, there is a trapdoor in
the bottom to let all the earth and stones pour out, after removing the trough.
This keeps the Treb light to transport but still provides a total weight of
400-500 lbs, depending on what you put in the box.
