Portable Trebuchet suitable for SCA use.

I wanted to build a larger, but portable, Trebuchet to chuck things larger than golf balls. I also wanted the whole machine to fit in a short box truck when it was disassembled. I didn't know about the SCA when I built this machine but it's now employed for that purpose.

The machine strips down into six basic parts: the frame, the arm, two side supports, the cross frame and the counterweight box.The counterweight is a wooden box, which is filled with earth/stones/gravel at the site. After use, there is a trapdoor in the bottom to let all the earth and stones pour out, after removing the trough. This keeps the Treb light to transport but still provides a total weight of 400-500 lbs, depending on what you put in the box.



The sidesupports fold, scissors fashion, after the removal of two bolts.



All the parts are joined together by bolts, making construction very swift (about fifteen minutes). The following photos give an idea of the construction:
