– Hard Hearted Hannah –
by Milton Ager, Charles Bates, Robert Bigelow & Jack Yellon
From the (1924?) movie "Pete Kelly's Blues"

In old Savannah, I said Savannah,
The weather there is nice and warm!
The climate's of a Southern brand,
But here's what I don't understand:
They got a gal there, a pretty gal there,
Who's colder than an Arctic storm,
She's got a heart just like a stone,
Even the ice men leave her alone!

They call her Hard Hearted Hannah, the vamp of Savannah,
The meanest gal in town;
Leather is tough, but Hannah's heart is tougher,
She's a gal who loves to see men suffer!
To tease 'em, and thrill 'em, to freeze 'em and chill 'em,
Is her delight, they say,
I saw her at the seashore with a great big can,
There was Hannah pouring water on a drowning man!
She's Hard Hearted Hannah, the vamp of Savannah, G - A!

They call her Hard Hearted Hannah, the vamp of Savannah,
The meanest gal in town;
Talk about your cold, refrigeratin' mama,
Brother, she's a polar bear's pajama!
To tease 'em, and thrill 'em, to freeze 'em and chill 'em,
Is her delight, they say,
An evening spent with Hannah sittin' on your knees,
Is like drivin' through Alaska in your B - V - Ds.
She's just Hard Hearted Hannah, the vamp of Savannah, G - A!

– I Am Alive And I Can See –
said to be by Susan Naylor Callaway

Come by here o Lord
Listen to my plea
Do not pass me by
For I cannot see

Come by here o Lord
Touch my darkened night
Wake my spirit from sleeping
O Lord and do not pass me by

[chorus x2:]
I am alive and i can see
I am alive and i can see
I once was blind but Jesus touched me
I am alive and i can see

If you are blind and begging
For a touch of light
Listen to my story
Of how he gave me sight

No one else could save me
This I know is true
And what he did for me I know
That he would do it all for you.
– Dansi Na Kuimba –
Dave and Jean Perry or African trad

1. Sun will come
Day will bring
The song of life
To everything

2. Long time ago
When the world was still young
All was quiet and calm
Just the rocks and the sun
Then came a beat
That was steady and strong
Soon the music was born
And the dance was begun

3. Dance while the music sings to you
Dance while the music sings to you
Day has come, there’s much to do
Join in the dance.

4. Dansi na kuimba (La-i-ni)
Dansi na kuimba (Kwa sa-u-ti)
Dance and sing (Pamoja)
Dansi na kuimba

. . . . Can you imagine a woman as cold as Hannah?
. . . . She's got the right name,  the vamp of Savannah
 . . . . Any time a woman can take a great big can,
 . . . . Start pouring water on a drowning man!
 . . . . She's Hard Hearted Hannah, the vamp of Savannah, G - A!
