Sannyas Ring -- Osho

by Hyunsan

Sannyas Ring is a group of web sites which explore and celebrate our connection to and love for the modern Indian mystic Osho, the buddha of our age. By joining Sannyas Ring the Web Master of a sannyas site will increase traffic to her/his site while also helping other sites in the ring.

Each member site in Sannyas Ring carries a "navigation icon" like the ones below. The links in the icon allow visitors to the page to move around among the other sites in the ring. They can move to the next site, the previous site, or choose a random site. In case the next site is down there is also a link to "skip next" to bypass the failed path. And finally a visitor can list the next five sites in the ring, or even view a list of all ring member sites, with their descriptions. At the WebRing.org site members can view various statistics about the ring and edit their site profiles.

Becoming a member of Sannyas Ring is easy. If your site meets all of the criteria below, just submit the application form and you will be placed in the membership "queue." As soon as possible after your submission the Ringmaster, Sarlo, will review the web site to ensure that it meets Sannyas Ring criteria.

Upon notification that your site has been approved you should add the HTML code and graphics (see below) to your page and inform the Ringmaster once that is done. After it is verified that the links work, it will be moved into the ring. Please Note: It is important that you add the code to your page as soon as you are notified that your site has been approved. If you have not added the code to your page within three weeks of your application you will be removed from the queue.

Requirements for Membership

  • The content of any site being considered for membership in the ring must relate primarily to Osho and/or transformation, connected specifically to his meditations, insights, people or other significant aspects of his work and presence. Sites that deal only peripherally with these themes can form their own ring and are welcome to contact Sarlo for how-to information about setting this up.
  • The site must have substantial original content which may include articles, online classes, poems, illustrations, interviews, information about sponsoring organizations, workshop schedules, etc.
  • All things being equal, the site should provide a "good fit" with other sites already in the ring. The intention of this proviso is to ensure that visitors who enjoy one site in the ring will have a reasonable chance of enjoying the others. The execution of this intention will rely less on arbitrary or fixed rules and allegiances than on the consensus of those already in the ring.
  • The site must have no "adult" content of any type, and no direct links to adult sites or material. This is a WebRing requirement which has to do with the "rating" of Sannyas Ring.
  • Still to be considered: Do all the sites need to be primarily in English? Not necessarily, at this point. Let's see if it can work without limiting that. If your site is not in English, it may take longer to verify that it meets the other criteria. Contact Sarlo first.

The procedure for adding the icon and the appropriate HTML code to your page can be found at:
Large icon (2 images) Small icon (no images)        and the mid-size icons, from the top:
Mid-Short icon Mid-Medium icon Mid-Long icon (all 1 image)

It must be added to the first page of the site (not counting a cover page which leads ONLY to the first main page). Please note that failure to place it there will invalidate your membership in the ring.

Before choosing, consider this: If the navigation icon appears too large, you may be using VGA (640x480) resolution. Most web surfers are using SVGA (800x600) resolution. The navigation icon appears smaller when a monitor is set to SVGA resolution.
