I was born in 1959 in Sloten, Holland. It was easy to fall in love with beautiful paintings there. Avid drawing was a happy past time of mine and this gradually developed into painting as I grew older. Being a self taught artist, I like to say that, “I have learned everything the hard way, through practice, perseverance and self study”. In the process I have won numerous awards, the first one at age 12. My paintings cover a diverse range of subject matter and have been sold to private and corporate collectors in many countries.
In February of 1997, I opened “Saskia's Studio”, a thriving oil painting studio where I taught classes and workshops for 11 years. I closed shop in 2008 in order to concentrate fully on my own work. I strive to achieve emotion with my paint through colour and light, with movement, and via nostalgia.
Quality and good taste is of foremost importance to me.
My inspiration comes from nature through warm feelings to a specific subject that I see.
My husband and I have lived, and raised our two sons, in the Comox Valley since 1980.
We currently reside in Black Creek.
