Want to get involved, but not sure it
you can commit the time? Besides sitting on Parent
Council, there are many ways you can help.
Item Donations:
The school can always find use for good used items.
Before you throw anything away, please check with the school
to see if they can use it.
- Spare clothes come in handy when a
child has gotten wet or muddy on the playground. As
well special items, like skates are needed as children
sometimes forget their skates or do not have any.
- The Breakfast Program is another
way you can help. We accept food and cash
donations. Examples of food you can donate are:
Bread (60% whole wheat), Jam, Cheese Whiz, Yogurt, Juice
boxes, Fresh Fruit or fruit cups, Cheese Slices,
Waffles and Syrup.
- Bag Lunch Program:
The school also offers a bag lunch program for children
who forget or don't bring a lunch. Items you can
donate include: Cup-a-Soup/Noodle cups, Cheese &
Cracker Snacks, Juice boxes, Fruit cups, and pudding. (When
donating food, please remember that we are a Nut Free
school.)
- Extra craft supplies are always
welcome.
Occasional Volunteer: The
school hosts many functions through-out the year. Extra
help is often needed on a one time basis. Watch the
school newsletter for upcoming events and volunteer if you
have the time!
Fundraising: Parent
Council, the School and various classrooms fundraise for
different causes/events. Supporting our fundraising efforts
helps ALL the children.
Reading Program Visitor:
The School hosts an open house every Monday morning from 9:00
am to 9:30 am for the school-wide reading program.
Classes get to an entry in the monthly draw for each visitor
(reader) who comes to their class each week. At the end of the
month, the draw is held and everyone in the winning class gets
to choose a prize from the treasure chest. Showing up to
help our children read or even just to read with them is a
great way to help out whenever you can. No commitment is
necessary.
Classroom Helper:
Teachers always appreciate extra help whenever you can give
it.
Scholastic Gift Certificates:
Gift certificates for your child's teacher enables them to
purchase extra resources for the classroom. Each
purchase for the school also increases the school
credit. For more information on the purchasing program -
ask your child's teacher. Check it out - http://www.scholastic.ca
