This is a letter that Erastus wrote to his daughter Clara

Cardston Feb. 12, 1945
Dear Clara and All
A line to let you know that I am so much better of late today is Election Day and the town is full of free transfers to the polls, as you take the paper you will see. I have been expecting a letter from you. I hope the old address will reach you, I am sending some papers that may assist you in your research work I hope so at least. Do not work too hard, but take care of your health, as that is the best of all. Alta left two weeks ago to be with her mother before she passed away which she did recently. She will soon be back now no doubt. We had a very mild winter so far only 3 or 4 inches of snow at any time with the ground bare a part of the time. No snow on the flat now and the roads dry. I haven’t the information required on these blanks but alot of names have been done. I put in 6 sessions last week in the temple, hoping to hear from you at your convenience. With kind regards to All from your Father.
My father Soren Olsen was born in Denmark in 1791. A veteran in the Battle of Waterloo. His wife died in 1850. He accepted the gospel the spring of 1852. Selling out that fall started for America. My mother took the same sailing vessel. After about 10 weeks on the water they landed at New Orleans and St. Louis where they were married. At Keokuk, Iowa they were fitted for the journey across the plains. I think Father drove the mules and mother walked with other young women and drove a few cows. They arrived in Salt Lake on September 29, 1853. Lived in Manti where Peter Isaac, Seren and a twin brother who died at birth and Erastus born April 1, 1863. Having been called to settle Dixie they left in May 1863 they settled in Rockville on the Virgin River where father died and was buried there in 1872. We left Dixie in 1880, moved to Price in 1882, where mother died in 1890. I married Sarah M. Cox in 1889. Shipped horses and wagons to Lethbridge in May 1898. After loading up drove back to Cardston having lived in the surrounding districts since.

My wife Sarah M. died 25 July 1906.
Fathers first wife’s children are: wife Margrethe Christensen,

This is all I have on Father’s line. Soren Yorgesen thought he was the legal heir but after locating us found that Father was the legal heir. tho he had done alot of temple work. Mother was sealed in Salt Lake in 1861. and attended the first opening of the St. George Temple on the 11 Jan. 1877.
