This is completely factual.
"It looks like Summer is over," he said at six
And passed my wife in the hall;
And I woke at two to the rescue truck's
Siren wailing, louder, closer, stopping,
Here.
And rushing in case there was help to be given,
I stopped, seeing the open door and the doctor,
Hearing just "...he's..." and the click
Of something being closed.
They went away, then; firemen, police cars and ambulance --
And later, quieter, the hearse:
And last of all her and their dog
With the relative --
And a neighbor's bathroom light went on
While we touched hands in the dark.
