Digging a Pit

    Since the ground was frozen solid year round, it was not possible to dig a sump using conventional means such as a Cat or excavator so a seismic drill was used to drill a set of holes and the sump was then blasted. A Cat was then able to clean out the remaining dirt.
     The permafrost in the area went down to between 900 feet and 1400 feet.
