Fuel Storage

An arctic drilling rig used between 3,000 and 4,000 gallons of fuel a day. Fuel was brought to the Rea Point base camp by ship in the summer and was then flown by Hercules aircraft to the rig sites as required.
These fuel bladders each hold 40,000 gallons (182,000 litres) of fuel.  Almost every machine we used ran on the same fuel, Hercules and Twin Otter aircraft, trucks, drilling rigs, camp generators and pickup trucks.
