The Sikorsky S-61
As soon as the ice was strong enough to support small equipment, the Okanagan Helicopters would arrive with the S-61 to move our equipment onto the ice where we would start preparing a site for the drilling rig to sit. We would have the drilling site and a 6000 foot runway completed by Christmas and would then start moving the heavy equipment and the drilling rig onto the ice. We had to complete drilling, testing and abandoning the well and move off the ice to shre by the end of May when the ice started to weaken. |
