These trucks are not playing tug-of-war with the derrick, but with the derrick so long (about 120 feet) it would not make it around corners, so the
 second truck steered the back end around the corners. Quite an experience driving the rear truck because it would be travelling backwards at speeds up  to fifty miles per hour.
