Mission Statement
Updated April 11, 2005
This website is designed by Richard Tsang
for
Edit 435, a class offered at the
University of Alberta. This is a satirical poker site, in other words, my
main goal is to create a bogus site. Poker has increased in popularity
over the past few years and there are millions of poker strategy sites out
there but there has yet to be a fake site mocking these strategies, this
is where I come in! This site is geared towards more experienced poker
players. The more you know about poker, the better laugh you'll get out
of this site.
Most of the "mistakes" on my
site are done on purpose, but for those who are new to poker I will
identify some of these "mistakes" to you:
- The biggest and most
obvious "mistake" would be my title. I laugh every time I read it because
there is no such thing as "Limit and Unlimited Texas Hold Them Poker".
The most common poker games played at casinos are "Limit Texas Hold'em"
and "No Limit Texas Hold'em". Hardly anyone uses "Hold Them" or
"Unlimited" when they refer to these two games.
- Another clear "mistake" I
make is mentioning that Doyle Brunson's "SUPER SYSTEM A course in Poker
Power" is not a useful book. Even though this book is old, the strategies
for poker have not changed over the years, it is by far the best book on
the market. Note: The book is called "SUPER SYSTEM A course in [Power
Poker]" not "SUPER SYSTEM A course in Poker Power".
- As for the articles, there
are so many "mistakes" I made that it would take me forever to explain all
these to you. It is best to study up on reliable poker strategies on
sites like
Card Player or forums like
Two Plus Two.
Once reading these strategies, it should be easy for you to pick up on
these "mistakes". However, it is important to understand that 7 2
off-suit is the worst hand in poker, so even if I convinced you that this
is an awesome hand, don't believe a word I say! If you calculate the
odds, you'll understand that 7 2 off-suit loses the majority of the time.
- I took the news reports from
Part Time
Poker's humor section. These reports are similar to
my articles in that they are fake and only for entertainment purposes.
- The terms are somewhat
correct, but not totally! Again, it is best to look for a reliable site
with poker terms and refer to those, not mine!!
- My favorite portion of the
website would be the "Advice" section. Some of these warnings or advice I
give are so pathetic that you'd probably pick up on them easily. However,
I should mention that Party Poker is not the best online gambling site.
They do a lot of promotions, as a result, a lot of new players come in to
play at this site. If you're an experienced poker player, you'll have a
tough time playing against a table full of unpredictable players who base
their game on luck. However, their poker graphics are one of the best, so
if you do play there, I suggest that you play at Sit n Go tables or in
Tournaments because the inexperienced players will most likely get kicked
off first.
- I am not advertising or
trying to sell products to you in my "Products" section. In fact, I'm
trying to warn you that these poker products are useless! Seriously, who
would spend $50 on a "little poker table" when any flat surface could do
the job just fine? Furthermore, at first sight you may see nothing wrong
with the 13.5 gram
Yin Yang
chips. However, these
chips are not professional whatsoever. Casino chips weigh 9-10 grams a
piece, this 3.5-4.5 gram difference is huge! Also, these chips have a
metal insert in them, as a result, they slip all over the place when you
do chip tricks and produce a horrible sound whenever you splash the
pot.
- There are no
"mistakes" under "Quotes". This section just lists some funny poker
quotes for all of you to enjoy.
- Lastly, there are no "mistakes" under the "Links" page,
in fact this is the only page that will actually help enhance your game.
There are so many poker sites out there, to shorten your searching time I
narrowed the list down to links I recommend.

He was also
a Poker Prop at an online site that can't be revealed. A prop
is a
player that is paid by the poker room to play in their games, these props
start new games or keep a shorthanded game going so it won't break up.
