FishBurger
-> Players at my table type "Bad Beat" every time I beat them. What
does it mean?
Good question
FishBurger,
"Bad Beat" is a tough one but
Malificent
answered it perfectly, he hit the hammer on the head.
Malificent
-> It is a bad beat because I felt bad after I was beat. That is why they
call it that right?
Yes that's right, your opponents are just
in a bad mood because you won.

Anonymous -> I have heard people say they
like fish. Does anyone know the meaning of fish in poker?
The "fish" is a dangerous player at the
table, someone you should definitely look out for.

where a fish comes home, baby! You can't stop me, don't even try."
Note: For further details on "Fish", refer to the
definition "River Rat".

Anonymous -> WTF does nuts
mean? It sounds perverted!
When we say "you have the nuts" in poker we
are saying that you have the best possible hand. It's not what you
think it is, instead it's referring to the strongest hand that can be
made. Think of a walnut for example, it is hard and strong just like
your hand, hence, "you have the nuts"!

Anonymous -> At home games,
this guy keeps on calling me a river rat. Then they laugh at me,
throw popcorn at me, and make me dance around the room like a monkey.
I think they're jealous of me. Is a river rat a player who is really
tricky like a rat and always wins the pot at the river?
Yes, you should be proud to
be a river rat and your friends are all jealous of you. A river rat
is someone who is really tricky like a rat so it's hard to get a read on
them. A rat is really small and quick, so it is hard to catch them,
that is why you should always bet and raise if you are the river rat.
Note: For further details on "River
Rat", refer to the definition "Fish".

Tells are very helpful in poker. An
opponent's tell gives you a detailed account of what hole cards he/she is
holding. Any subtle action could be considered a poker tell.
For example, people splitting and eating Oreos at
the table is a good and obvious tell. In fact, this tell is the most
common tell in poker (the movie
Rounders portrays this tell perfectly).
