Bowen Island is the mountain island closest to Vancouver, and it shares the country pace and beautiful scenery of the many islands in B.C. It's a springboard to the Pacific. People swim, kayak, beachcomb... and sail. In the summer you'll see many sailors sweeping from island to island.
The forest meets the sea here, and the island features large natural parks and mountains, featuring various trails. The hike around tranquil Killarney Lake is a relaxing way to explore the forest.
In Snug Cove you'll find intriguing shops to explore, restaurants and coffee shops, as well as a library in the charming old Union Steamships building.
Galleries abound on the island. Bowen's artistic community includes
many clever artists, artisans and musicians.
Near the Cove is attractive Artisan Square,
which features a chocolate shop and craft
stores, as well the Bowen Bistro and
a shop called Funkymonkey,
where you can buy new and consigned clothing
and funky gifts.
