This morning I woke up with lots of muscle pain. Last night I rode with the Abbotsford Cycling Action Group - "ACAG" - Cycling4FunEvent. I noticed that my Parkinson’s tremor was almost all gone. The difference is worth it; I can work on the muscles by biking more. It seems that the action of a good hard bike ride stimulates the brain to produce the necessary chemicals needed to control the Parkinson's tremor. When I am riding my bike, I feel like I am Parkinson's free. It does not seem to help with the short-term memory problems or the lack of energy. I wish that I could convince some of my Parkinson's friends to give it a try to see if it would make a difference in their lives.

This week I installed a VDO computer on my Montague FIT. This unit can keep track of the usage history of 2 different bicycles. This came in handy when I joined the Abbotsford Cycling Action Group for their weekly ride. Between the scheduled ride and my ride to and from the starting point, I put on 20.6 km. My average speed this week has been 14.05 km and my maximum speed has been 44.2 km. Since I installed this computer, I have put on 84.38 km. This information would be not available had I not installed this computer. This will help me to plan any future biking to help me cope with my Parkinson's disease. It will also make it easier to keep up the routine and see when I have not put in enough time on my bike.

I have been asked by a friend to take part in the Victoria Day parade in Fort Langley, B.C. on May 24th, 2010. It will be our duty is to help keep the parade together by riding up and down the route and reporting to the leader via 2-way radio. This would seem to be a great opportunity and experience as a cyclist and ham radio operator. It would be nice if I could afford to purchase a SwissBike XO to ride in this parade.

Today I rode in the Victoria Day parade in Fort Langley. It was a very interesting experience. I grew up in the Langley area and met a lot of people at this parade who I went to school with in the late 60’s. I rode my way up and down the parade route at least 5 times. It was my job to keep the pace of the parade up. Next year I would like to see a whole troupe of Montague bike riders to ride like a drill team. Anybody interested?
