I AM NOT TRYING TO SELL TUBE *EQUIPMENT* ON THE NET
I AM NOT TRYING TO SELL TUBE *EQUIPMENT* ON THE NET
I AM NOT TRYING TO SELL TUBE *EQUIPMENT* ON THE NET

Here's an early prototype of OUR new LIMITED production amp
it's only here so you CAN SEE IT, so you can see a nice looking amp.

HERES the NEWER ONE..(the final small amp design)
The reason I cant figure out how to SELL on the net, is...
no one should *buy* something they haven't *heard*
Everyone will tell you thier amp sounds the best...right? of course it does...you made it!
the only way to tell if you like it is to LISTEN to it, and I just cant see shipping things around the world to SEE if people like the sound of them, though all the people in my own area who are into this sort of thing use my amps...
I am a Musician, I have a recording studio.
I design tube recording studio amps and pre-amps, and modify analog stages in
things like digital recorders, c.d players etc.
Many are in use in MAJOR RECORDING STUDIOS...... mixing things
YOU HEAR IN YOUR HOME.
I stopped counting the number of TUBE related pieces I was making at around 1000, and that was 9 or 10 years ago.
To my knowledge they are still working...a testement to the quality and longevity of tube equipment...
I have seen LOTS of solid state stuff need service , suprizingly with more regularity, and more catastrophically than tube stuff.....mostly because of the sensitive nature of solid state devices, and the sheer parts count.
SO, we might be able to work out something in the way of aMP auditioning if you live somewhere in my part of the world, which is in western CANADA.
or,I will try to help you with the honorable and economically viable path of making your own....
or fiximg up an existing model
Generally, schematics cost $5 or $20 for a copy of the full assembly/owners manual
if available.....In U.S. funds, INTERNATIONAL MONEY ORDER.
The principals behind getting a good stereo are simple.

Use GOOD TUBES, and GOOD CAPACITORS, and GOOD OUTPUT TRANSFORMERS
dont SKIMP on the POWER SUPPLY, and KEEP IT SIMPLE!
Most TUBE AMPS can sound pretty good.
I LIKE SIMPLE DESIGN..its easy to build, and more reliable, and if you DO IT RIGHT , and use the BEST AVAILABLE TUBES, it SOUNDS BETTER THAN the designs that are CLUTTERED with little solid state regulators.........................................................( IMHO )
generally, I am an ULTRALINEAR output transformer fan., AS OPPOSED TO triode and pentode...but I have heard all modes I liked in some way or other.
I try to DESIGN WITH BETTER BUILT TUBES than the normal
12ax7, at7,ay7 au7, and 6dj8's used in most audiophile gear.
BLack plate tubes HAVE LESS 4TH AND 6TH HArmonic distortion.
I like the BLACK PLATE 5751/6072/6201/6089, 5687, 6bx7, etc
The tubes I use are MILITARY GRADE, meaning they are unfortunately getting scarce..there is still huge stocks of 5687 around..and you can find other black plate tubes if you look..
The whole reason I am telling you this is TO TRY TO RAISE DEMAND so the manufacturers consider making them again....ask them PLEASE..
I hope tube manurfacturers TAKE NOTICE

Try the THE GOOD / EASY TUBE LINE PRE-AMP!!!!
with a 5687 or 5751.
as far as AMPLIFIER CIRCUITS GO>>>>
..I like "ULTRA LINEAR" output transformers....but
some people prefer TRIODE CLASS A mode..its certainly softer sounding..
I Have made lots of triode conversions, and frankly, I like REAL TRIODE AMPs better.
-by that I mean designed with actual triode tubes...
they seem suited to amplifier designs which sound unusually HARD..like the EICO HF 87..it has a solid state diode voltage doubler power supply, and cathode bias...it's one of the few triode conversions I actually liked..
it's only takes adding 4 resistors in a stereo amp...so if you want
You can try it yourself with the CONVERT PENTODEor ULTRALINEAR TO TRIODE !!
.......................................................................
and....Thank's to the WAR efforts, the spinoffs in " TUBE tech" are amazing.
MOST OF THE BIG BREAKs in TUBE DESIGNand good parts closely follow big WARS...
then LATER, the black plate 5687, 5751,6072..and the really GREAT MIC and output TRANSFORMERS
You think it's any coincidence that HAROLD J LEAK,
{ the TOTAL GENIUS to whom I, in large part, owe my livelyhood }
released the FIRST GOOD AMPLIFIER in 1943? hmmm?
HE invented the piston loudspeaker,(soon to be supplanted by HSS technology..), the moving coil cartridge,
the long-tailed-pair phase inverter, and the ultralinear output transformer,
...................SNIP.................................................

-Good FREE SURPLUS high voltage power supply caps can be got from taking apart
disposable instamatic cameras
-these are160uf at 330 volts, so
2 in series will give you 80uf at 660volts, just watch the can on the
one farthest from ground...It will be at 250 or so volts..they are insulated,
but not if you *cut* through the *insulation*.
I told DAN HILDEBRANDT, and he
WROTE THIS
In closing:
I am not going to give away my amp designs, though you WILL be able to
negotiate for a kit, custom instructions, or send your amps to me for improvement..
I can mod/design tube changes and circuit refinements till the cows come home,
BUT I EXPECT TO BE PAID for original world class modification work.
Modestly, but DEFINATELY
It takes time to make web pages, let alone catalog lots of tube amps etc...
The power went off when I was 1/2 way through "FENDER"

My favorite *starter* amps are indicated on the downloadable list of available schematics.
If you Start with one of those, you are aand will be pretty well off in short order.
OH yea....HIGH VOLTAGE IS DANGEROUS.
ALWAYS DRAIN THE POWER FROM YOUR AMP BEFORE POKING AROUND IN THERE.
a 5 watt 560 ohm resistor clipped between the b+ and ground ought to do it.
just dont forget to remove it when you fire up the amp.......done that....

TAKE ME BACK!!!
