From flowing water
Flowing water is abundant and free. However, harnessing
that
energy
requires turbines and generators that are engineered to withstand the
most
severe flooding and yet be inexpensive enough to compete with
"conventional"
electricity sources. This is not an easy task.
Proposed In-stream Hydro Turbine

We have designed low cost, light weight, direct drive
permanent magnet
generators for hydro turbine applications.
Our generators significantly reduce the
"Dollars per
Watt", simplifying the construction by eliminating the gearbox and
attaining
maximum torque and power at rpm using a practical, low-cost permanent
magnet
concentration
technique.
Additionally, we are working with
in-stream hydro
turbine manufacturers
that
promise to lower the costs and further simplify the design by
integrating TorsionTec generators with their turbines.

We are also investigating the use of 'Net Metering',
electrolyzers,
energy storage, and fuel cells to save and regenerate electricity when
it's
needed and not
only when the water is flowing.
TorsionTec Permanent Magnet Generators
provide high power using
low-cost Ferrite or high-power Neodymium magnets for efficient, low
maintenance, reliable,
direct
drive coupling to hydro turbines.
