V. Design Notes (1974-80):

Following design notes were written when I was working as an electrical engineer at TRIUMF. The design numbers relate to TRIUMF's internal numbering system.

  1. Electrical services for Biomedical beam line (M8) - power distribution, DC and interlock cabling for M8 magnets and power supplies (August, 1974).
  2. Electrical services, DC cabling and interlocks for M20 (February, 1975).
  3. Measurements of input currents, DC output currents and voltage for beam line power supplies of different types (July, 1975).
  4. Trouble shooting of CTS power supplies (September, 1975) [TRI-DN-75-6].
  5. Replacement of pass bank transistor in CTS - 11 kW and 25 kW power supplies (October, 1975) [TRI DN-75-8].
  6. Tracking test on CTS power supplies and power dissipation in transistor - pass bank vs output current at various tap settings (October, 1975) [TRI-DN-75-9].
  7. Test and modifications of transistor pass bank heat sinks in CTS power supplies (11 kW-25 kW) (January, 1976) [TRI-DN-76-1].
It was used to modify transistor pass bank heat sinks of all CTS beam line power supplies on site which increased their reliability a great deal.
  8. Cost estimates for servicing the beam line magnets and power supplies (April, 1980) [TRI-DN-80-6]. It gave some guidelines for estimating the cost of services for budgetary purposes.
