GENERAL MEETING May 2007 The
Western Canada Photographic Historical Association The
Association AGM took place on May 1st. The call to order at 8:10 pm was
followed with a confirmation of quorum and a motion was unanimously passed
accepting the shorter than normal notice of the meeting. Treasurer
Gary Cullen provided a statement of accounts for the past fiscal year: Membership dues................ $320 Consignment profit............. $610 Total Income...................... $930 General expenses................. $503 Library book donations....... $720 Total Expenses................... $1223 Funds in hand.................... $5295 The
nomination of officers followed. All the directors had agreed to run again
and, with no nominations from the floor, the following slate was elected by
acclamation: President............................................. Tom
Parkinson Vice-President................................... Siggi
Rohde Treasurer............................................ Gary
Cullen Secretary and Newsletter Editor....... Peter Knowlden Program Coordinator........................ Joe
Vorlicek The Outing Coordinator:
Ron Chappell, and Newsletter Producer: Melvin Lee, were thanked. These are
unelected positions. There was a discussion on
extending the term of directors to two years — but no motion. Subsequent
checks have shown that two-year terms are not permitted under the bylaws.. There were discussions on
allowing payments for meeting speakers but no motion. The executive retains
some discretion in this regard. We have never paid for a speaker and have no
plans to, but we may have to pay expenses, specifically if a digital
projector has to be rented. The president summarised the Association’s
donation of the current McKeowns to six local libraries. The meeting was officially adjourned at 8:55 pm, followed by informal discussions. New member Miles Steininger suggested advertising the Association as he had difficulty finding out about us. Most of our new members have come from the flyers we distribute at Camera Shows. Any ideas for other advertising would be welcome. Tom Parkinson WESTERN CANADA PHOTOGRAPHIC HISTORICAL ASSOCIATION, BOX 78082, 1755 EAST BROADWAY, VANCOUVER BC V5N 1W0 |
