"Wild Child" contains 12 tracks, all written and arranged by Elizabeth. All feature pedal steel and "Lost Soldiers"features vocals from Elizabeth. She says, "Don sang background vocals and played keyboards and guitars." Also appearing on the album are Robby Steininger on electric and acoustic guitars, Rob Becker on bass and Ron Briggs on drums.
Elizabeth says, "This album has been a long time coming! I was very happy to get to work with Don Thompson, a great producer and engineer. I've carried this
sound in my head as a young child. I knew what I
wanted and Don worked countless hours with me until we
were both happy with the sound. He and his team of first class studio musicians just nailed it. In fact, we're already at work on the next one!"
Asked about recording her steel on the new album, Elizabeth says, "Well, of course, I played my Sho-Bud Super Pro-II! I usually use my Peavey amp, but at the session I tried a Fender Steel King and it suited the sound I was after for this album. It seemed that the Fender was a bit more mellow and, I don't know, maybe had less sustain than the Peavey. For effects, I just used a little reverb. We had to do very little EQ'ing at the board, as the sound going down to the recorder was just right."
