About Women North Network (WNN)
The Women North project began as a community development/research project facilitated by Northern FIRE: The Centre for Women's Health Research at the University of Northern British Columbia and funded by Status of Women Canada.
At the outset of the project, meetings and community gatherings were organized with women and women-serving organizations in northern British Columbia to talk about women's health and wellness and to discuss how to establish a network that would enable women to develop joint research, action, and policy initiatives in northern, rural and remote communities.
Women from the following communities participated in the community gatherings and are the founding members of the Women North Network:
Mackenzie ~ Robson Valley (Dunster, McBride and Valemount)
Fort St. John ~ Dawson Creek ~ Chetwynd ~ Fort St. James
Prince Rupert ~ Terrace ~ Burns Lake ~ Smithers ~ Houston
~ Prince George ~

One aspect of the Women North Network is supported by the UNBC WebCT online gathering space. This is very much in the beginning stages of development. We are experimenting with the many options and ways of offering a means of communication and sharing information and resources. It is our hope that as you become familiar with the features that the WebCT (Web Course Tool) offers, you will become an integral asset to the development of this network tool in ways that are useful and valuable to women in Northern BC.
Welcome Women North!!!!
