1963 Memories

Wow, we have a coach (Tom McLean), an assistant coach (Chester Gal), we have uniforms and we're entered in the Lethbridge Major Men's Fastball League.

My Mom having to take about half of the material from the pants I got.

More recruiting and we even added Gary Simmons from the South Side (because he could pitch) and the first of our Shaughnessy imports, Myron Ell, joined the team.

Rick Petrie hitting a home run in the very first game at the new Dave Elton Park.

Danny Santoni showing off his arm by overthrowing first base, the 15-foot high fence running behind the dugout, hitting the roof on the bathrooms, and having the ball disappear over the fence into the parking lot.

Going 0 and 3 at the start of the season. Unfortunately the 3 was May, June and July.

Winning our first game at the provincials, beating Calgary 8 - 7.

George Santoni striking out two Edmonton batters with his knuckleball with the tying run at third and the winning run at second with nobody out in the championship game.

Rich Chollack running over and making the catch for the final out giving us our first title.
