Weekend Rock Climbing Courses
'Advanced Rock'

Weekend Rock Climbing Courses
Weekend Rock Climbing Courses

Course Details

Climbing on 'gear routes' where you construct your own anchors and place your own protection is way more challenging than 'clipping' bolts. You can't afford to make mistakes as the consequences are often unacceptable. If you're already following 'gear routes', leading indoors or on sport routes and comfortable climbing 5.7 then you're ready for 'Advanced Rock'.

The objective of this three-day course is to work on advanced rope systems, especially on anchor construction and on placing protection and to introduce lead climbing tactics.

How difficult is it? How fit and experienced need you be?

We normally rely upon participant’s carpooling. Should this not be feasible we will ensure that something is organized. If visiting the area from far afield we would recommend you rent a car so as to be able to visit local attractions and the like in the evenings (you may be able to share this expense with other participants). Canmore is a 1-hour drive west from Calgary. There are frequent buses from the airport and downtown, we will send details upon booking.
