CONTEST #10 - AUGUST 12TH - DURHAM

The Durham contest is well-known for its great weather condition. For the past 12 years it has rained, without fail, either before or during the show in Durham. It may have taken the organizers a while, but they finally realized that it always rains on this one day. And keeping this in mind they made special preparations - they gave a rain hat to everyone that attended the business meeting.

Only one thing surprised all - it didn't rain. Yes, non-believers it actually didn't rain at Durham this year!!

Now, with a sunny day we were trying to hype, but looking at the field it was difficult to even smile. For those who haven't seen it, it's a baseball diamond with plough furrows, an absolute delight to march on.

However, in good (or 'naturally high') spirits, we did a good show and got a first place 72.0

"SIDE EVENTS"

- the instructors had a problem with people wearing sunglasses to rehearsals, so they were banned from the rehearsal field (the sunglasses).

- our corps' female flashers were 'nabbed' once and for all. Bus trips will never be the same again.

- after the show, members of both Kavies and Ambassadors went swimming. This almost became a tense situation.

- even though it was late we went home for supper. Durham has no McDonald's thank God!!
