Final assembly of the 40 meter elements took place in the front yard where adequate space was just available. Once the spreaders were fully assembled and the 30 and 40 meter wires installed, the wire positions were marked on the spreaders.

Next, the lower spreader extension tubes were removed and the 30 and 40 meter wire elements rolled up and placed to one side. This facilitated raising the 40 meter spreader assemblies to the vertical position in preparation for installation on the boom.

Both 40 meter elements were then raised to the vertical position. One against the house and the other held in place by a temporary brace. Positioning was critical as three scaffolds had to be erected next to support the boom at a sufficient height (20 feet) to allow attaching the elements to the boom.
