HAVE AN ADVENTURE
Visit the
beautiful Slocan Valley in the heart of the Kootenays.
Allow yourself the unique experience of staying in the quiet
sanctuary of my STRAWBALE COTTAGES.(Built in 1997 and 1999) with
the thick walled charm of adobe.
The cottages open to the privacy of my flower- berry - veggie and
herb garden. A short walk through the backyard takes you to the
gently flowing Slocan River. Safe for swimming. excellent for a
lazy day of tubing.
Each STRAWBALE cottage offers comfortable accommodation for two.
Bathroom facilities provided.
HIKING
Yes, I can point you in the right direction to experience the
magic mountain meadows of IDAHO PEAK in full alpine flower.
BOATING
I can also help you find a private beach and waterfalls in the
Valhalla wilderness park Or take you on a guided tour. Canoes are
available for rent nearby.
EXPLORING
Combine a heritage tour, small shops and good eats.
A short drive into the mountains you will find the charming old
mining towns of New Denver- Silverton - Nakusp and the ghost town
of Sandon.
FUN - SUN AND WATER
I
can get you started on a tubing journey down the peaceful Slocan
river lazing all the way. Enjoy a picnic on one of the gravel
bars. You’ll think you are in heaven.

A rural farm community in the Slocan valley nestled in the
Selkirk mountains.West Kootenay region. B.C. Canada.
We are located midway between Calgary ,Alberta and Vancouver.
Just north of the Washington U.S.A. border
Castlelgar airport is nearby.
HOT SPRINGS
Yes , I can also direct you to one of several hot springs in the
area, including a "wild" one.
The small and very "doable"city of Nelson offers a
colorful Saturday market, shops galleries restaurants and
buildings from the beginning of the century. Relax or swim at the
Lakeshore park.
Enjoy local festivities and events.
You are welcome to laze away in a hammock or help with any of my
current projects.
About Rabi’a your host.
Born in Holland. I have spend a number of years living and
working in various parts of the world including 5 years in
Hawaii, 1 year in Australia, doing permaculture design and
implementation.
I also homesteaded for 15 years in the far north west corner of
B.C.
You’ll find me energetic, friendly and adventurous.
My permaculture based gardens and orchard reflect my love for the
land, for growing things and for beauty.
My philosophy is one of simplicity , gratitude and beauty.
Walking gently on the earth.
Reservations are a good idea, or you can take a
last minute chance.
Cost. The larger cottage is $70.00 for two including breakfast
and the smaller cottage is $40.
For those who wish I can provide vegetarian meals, serving my own
garden fresh veggies and berries in season.
$10 per meal per person.
Travelers cheques or cash only please.
No smoking indoors.
