Book Reviews & Recommendations
The following is a list
of books that I have, personally, consulted for
information on raising my rabbits. They cover a variety
of topics from general care to in depth medical issues.
There are many more books available on rabbit care and I
am sure that they can be just as informative. So I
recommend that before bringing new bunny home, pick up a
book today and read about what exactly is involved with
raising a healthy, happy rabbit.

Hop
To It: A Guide To Training Your Pet Rabbit
This book is
geared to understanding and training your house rabbit.
Although there are other books covering some of the same
topics, this book takes on the unique approach of being
relayed by first hand experience based on
Samantha Hunter's experiences with her own house
rabbit "Woodstock".
Topics include grooming and keeping bunny
healthy but more importantly it deals with training issues for the house
rabbit covering specific
topics such as: "Bunny proofing Your Home";
"Handling Your Bunny"; "Trust
Training"; and "Harness & Outdoor Training".
This book is a must have for every house rabbit owner. I
have yet to find one person who doesn't recommend this book.

Rabbits For Dummies
This book is a must have for any rabbit
owner. Some of the topics covered include: "Is a
rabbit right for you?"; housing; feeding; grooming;
common health problems; litter & house training;
traveling with your bunny; knowing when to take bunny to
the vet and so on.
Some of you may be familiar with Audrey
Pavia's previous book "The Rabbit: An
Owner's Guide to A Happy Healthy Pet" well this book
is better. It contains the same information found in the
previous book and much more. It is laid out in an easy to
use format and with language you don't have to have a
university degree to understand.
Depending on who you talk to people either
really like this book or hate it. The so-called reasons to hate the book are
based on personal beliefs and preferences because it mentions housing rabbits
outdoors, breeding and showing rabbits and it doesn't stress enough that all pet
rabbits need to be spayed and/or neutered. In my opinion a good generalized
starter rabbit book like this one should cover all the topics. The goal is to
teach people about rabbits in an unbiased way, which is another reason why I
like this book.
I highly recommend this
book to everyone who has or is thinking of getting a
rabbit. It has just about every bit of information you will ever need.
The only other books on rabbits I find myself reading are the ones
dealing specifically with medical issues and treatment.

Medical
Books
The majority of the following
medical books are not necessary for everyone, unless you are extra keen in the
medical information. However, I do recommend that everyone at some point obtain
a copy of Rabbit Health in the 21st Century.
