Summary

Now that we have given Randonneur 500 status to Bob Irvine and Brad Proctor (who weren't club members for all of their rides), we should extend the same eligibility criteria to all others who are in the same situation.

More of an effort should be made to protect the people in several key club positions from taking on secondary responsibilities. These protected positions might include the organizers of key events, the route coordinators, and the key support positions: newsletter, treasurer, and especially database coordinator.

Membership policy should be clear, simple, and consistent. We should return to our pre-2002 system.

The Randonneur 500 and 1000 awards, and the short rides, should be phased out of our system by the beginning of the 2004 season. The possibility of the short rides program continuing as a separate club should be given serious consideration.

Information strategy: There should be a limited-run print version of the schedule(s). We should eliminate the randonneur brochure. If there is someone to distribute it, we should have a Pacific Populaire promotional brochure. We should consider printing about 10,000 'teaser cards' - Prototype here.

We need a better finisher's award system for the Rocky Mt. 1200. We should be ready shrink the event in years when there is no one to run a full sized one.

Greater emphasis should be given to ensuring we have organizers for our other two marquee events: the Fleche Pacifique and Pacific Populaire. We need a sensible default succession system for the Pacific Populaire.

Perhaps our close relationship with cycling BC is over.

We need a club position devoted to figuring out what our insurance needs are and how to get it.

We should maintain strong ties between our regional chapters, and with SIR.

We must get rid of the trailer.

Remove the strings attached to the Hathaway bequest money ($5000), stick the money in a separate account, and put it out of our minds.

Continue to encourage members' personal initiatives (provided that they don't come with burdensome future obligations.)
