International
Walk-To-School Day:
The walk to school 'movement'
seems to have begun in England in the mid 1990s and then spread
to North America through Chicago and Los Angeles in 1997, arriving
in Canada a year later with 250 Canadian schools participating
in the movement in some way. The first International Walk-to-School
day was in 2000, the year Shaughnessy Elementary signed on. In
2001 over 2 million kids world-wide participated in the event...
in both 2002 and 2003 there were almost 3 million kids. |
