Friday Practice
Did You Hear Something?
If it was practice, you probably did. You probably heard the sound of bikes roaring around the track at break neck speeds. Then, you probably heard the sounds of fibreglass and metal scraping along the asphalt. You guessed it, the Hornet decided to check out the durability of his body work down at Pat's Acre. It did pretty well, not much damage to the bike, but definitely some damage to the rider. I caught up with the Hornet and asked him what happened. "Well, I was following this bike around the track and was trying to make a pass. I was still learning the new part of the track and that added to my frustration of trying to get around the slower rider. The rider ahead was ALL OVER the track. After turn 8, which is the last turn from the new section to the old, I had good drive coming out of the corner. As I was coming up on her (later I found out it was a SHE), on the inside of turn 8 I decided to make my move around the outside of her on turn 9. There must have been room to fit a semi there. Then all of a sudden BAM, she moves over right into me and forces me to go even wider. Off the track I went. I bumped up my elbow a bit, but what really hurts now is the gonging in my head." Needless to say, the Hornet got back in the saddle and continued his quest on bringing home wood. Don't worry Hornet, that happens all the time in life. You make a move on a woman and she'll just slam you down.
As for the Razor, he was all gung ho for practice. The track had added a new section and lengthen it by about 15 seconds. The Razor felt not to bad on Fridays practice session but did not go "Balls Out" as he wanted to save it for race day. Something the Hornet still has to learn. Razor had a decent session and lap times dropped a few seconds by the end of the day. The Razor seemed pleased about that and set high hopes for Saturdays races.
From the going on's on Friday, I guess most of you took my advice and refrained from concentrating your positive thoughts. It was obvious when I saw the Hornet crash very early in the practice session. I just hoped that you were all going to give them a Major Positive Punch for Saturday.
