Awesome Leathers
Yep, that's right folks. Leather is a great protector as the Hornet found out on last Sundays outting. Not only did he test them once, but how bout 3 times!! The first was in practice. The Hornet blames the other rider as he is a "crappy rider". Look in the mirror, if you can't make the pass cleanly, don't pass at all. The next crash was probably the most spectacular of crashes. Yes people, that's called a High Side. Or in the Hornets case, a High Side," what the hell am I doing in front of my bike" crash. In the 50 Mod qualifying, the Hornet tried to defy the odds of gravity and go airborne as his bike slid and the gripped the pavement throwing him head over tea kettle. He some how landed on his stomach as the bike decided to land on his left shoulder. It hit him so hard it left a mark on his leathers from the brake caliper. Thank goodness for back protectors. Oh, kids, by the way, don't try that at home. If that wasnt' enough, in the GP Open main, there was a crash in the second turn, 2 riders down, oops make that 3, thanks Hornet. He said it wasn't his fault he T-boned the guy, he had a rider on his right and left and had nowhere to go. Hmmmm, isn't that what brakes are for??? Well, because of his spectacular High Side, the Hornet was not able to participate in the qualifying heats, therefore he started all the mains from the back of the pack. Can you say, NO TEAM POINTS? Well, there is always next race. This time, keep the rubber side down. If you want to see how your front end is, ask the Razor. He'll tell you everytime he looks over his shoulder back at you.
There's always a First!!!
The Razor couldn't believe it either. He actually finished first!! To bad it was only the qualifier, but at least thats a start!!. It was in the GP Open qualifier that Razor, who was on the second row in 4th, had a good jump on the start. And on the second or third lap, passed number 77 in the back straight chicane, and took over the lead and never looked back. Well, he sort of did, on the last lap in the second turn with riders breathing down his neck. His bike did a little slide that almost cost him dearly. But, the Razor hung on and made it out of the turn sliding his bike and keeping it in the lead to the checkered flag. Congratulations on the Super Pole. To bad, no points for that. DARN!!! The glory soon faded to misery, in the GP OPEN Main, on the last lap. The Razor was in 4th, with number 67 all over him. The Razor new that he had to take the defensive line to hold #67 off. Well, he felt the pressure and crumbled. In turn 2, the Razor was on the inside line, but had to much speed, (thats what he said, more like not enough balls) and drifted wide, just enough for 67 to slide by and send the Razor to 5th place. The Razor had a great excuse though, balding tires. Well, we've heard that one before. If you didn't crash, they still must be good, they aren't Firestones. The Razor placed in the Top 5 of the other 2 races to keep his points streak alive. We can't say much for the Hornet though. Oh right, he's to busy scratching his leathers. Maybe try you knee sliders next time Hornet. Until then.
Next Race Sept 7th, see you all there. Ed.
