TEAM SWUNK NEWS

Well, He Did It!!

That's right ladies and gentlemen, the Hornet did what he said he would.  The Hornet cracked a top 10 finish.  After the heart breaking last race when his bike broke down, he was determined to come back strong with the newly built engine.  He not only surprised himself, (but all of us) by even getting on the front row in a shortened (red flag) qualifying.  He placed fourth in qualifying to get the last spot on the front row beside teammate Razor.  This was going to be shootout, same starting position, fresh engine, but not enough balls.  The Hornet finished in 7th spot, but a great effort to gain points for Ice Level Sports and Team Swunk.  His best finish was in the Modified 50 class, where he beat teammate Razor who finished about a half bike behind.  He also placed 7th in the GP Open to gain valuable team points.  I caught up to the Hornet and this is what he had to say, "I finished 5th, I finished 5th, I finished 5th, I finished 5th, I finished 5th"  well, I guess you get the idea.  Congratulations Hornet, great ride.  Lets hope he replicate or better his position on the next outing on July 30.

Hang your head High.

After last months race, the Razor had his work cut out for him.  Facing a returning Mike Nagano and the Hornet's newly built engine, placing on the podium was going to be tough, almost non existent.  After qualifying 3rd in the shortened Stock 80 qualifier, he had a good chance.  Well, even with the Hornet by his side on the front row, the Razor had a good start, but by the end of the race finished 4th.  Not bad, he had gained some valuable points for the team and ran a good race.  But in the Modified 50 class, he was not so lucky.  After a dismal qualifying heat, he was second to last and on the last row.  But after a good start, he found himself about ninth and 3 spots behind his teammate.  It wasn't until the last 3 laps did the Razor make a few position gaining moves to be on the tail of his teammate the Hornet.  Then out came the white flag, last lap, Razor was hot on his tails, but the Hornet and his freshly built engine would have none of that. On the last turn the Razor tried to take him on the inside, but not enough drive to over take the Hornet to the finish.  Razor finished 6th, behind the Hornet.  "That's OK" Said the Razor. "You can hold your head high, you ran a good race."  "There's still the GP Open left, lets see what the Hornet has left!"  Well, I think the Hornet blew his load on the last race cause the Razor finished a dismal 6th, but more importantly, in front of the Hornet.  I caught up with the Razor after the GP Open and this is what he had to say, " I finished 6th, I finished 6th, I finished 6th, I finished 6th"  Who said there wasn't any team rivalry.  See you next race.

Until then, stay tuned for the next race July30th.  Ed.
