TEAM SWUNK NEWS

YOUCH!!!

Well, with first race under their belts, Team Swunk came out with an excellent outing.  Or is that "ouching"?  With the weather raining on and off.  There were some thrills and spills of the like that the Hornet and Razor felt on race day.

The first of 3 spills on the day for our dynamic duo started off on a rain slicked course during practice as the Hornet decided to see how well his New Boots and New Gloves would protect his toes and digits.  As he was being pressured by his fellow teammate, the Hornet lowsided on the second to last turn into a harmless spill.  "I could tell that my teammate was right behind me, I was starting to feel more confident on the wet track as this is the first time racing in the rain, and as I started to pull away from him (Razor) the front end just tucked under me.  All I remember at that point was looking up and seeing the Razor waving "BYE BYE" to me.  The little @#*$%*$@*$#*#@!!

The Hornet would get the last laugh though.  Still while during practice, one of the female riders, ( I'm just stating that the rider is of the female gender, that's all) proceeded to fall in front of the Razor and he hit her bike and went down.  He didn't look all that upset, but then again how can you tell a woman to go $#@* herself?

After some waiting, the track started to dry up and people were smiling.  Especially the Hornet.  The qualifying went great, as the Hornet rode with more confidence in his sophomore year.  The Razor actually got a podium finish (although it was only in qualifying) he finished 2nd in the rain monsoon GP Open.

80 stock was awesome for the Razor.  To bad the race was 15 laps and not 8.  He had the holeshot out at the start coming from the outside 4th spot and literally began to tearup the track like the demon racer that he has become. ( Who's writing this stuff?) Then reality struck. What he thought was a last lap flag was actually the half way flags.  The Razor explains.  "I was riding the tires off my Team Swunk,Ice Level Sports Suzuki YSR 80.  I looked over at my pit crew to see how big a margin I had and all I saw were blank faces.  The race seemed long, I was so dialed in I didn't know what lap I was on.  I started to catch up to lap some riders ( Now that is a first) so I figured it must be over soon.  As I came upon some slower riders, I had a little trouble passing and knew the other guys would soon be on my tails.  When I passed the Start/Finish it looked like a white flag signifying last lap. At that point someone passed me on that back straight.  I figured, if I wanted a chance to pass him back, I would have to do it on that first corner.  Well, I was just about to put on the brakes and downshift when my foot slipped off the gear shift, I panicked, forgot to put on the brakes.  We were almost 4 wide in the turn, I knew it would hurt.  WHAMO!  I had to put on the binders, and boy did I go down hard.  END OF STORY!!"  Needless to say, by the time Razor got back in the saddle, Hornet rounded the corner in front of Razor.  I can't be certain, but some said they thought they heard some snickering coming from the Hornet.

The Hornet proceeded to take 5th spot and the Razor 6th.  In the GP open, the Razor was going well, or well enough to stay ahead of the Hornet until another set back.  After about 8 laps, the right clip-on, on the Razors bike started to come loose.  People, if you've ever had this happen to you, it's not a great feeling.  With just trying to finish in the points, the Razor was at his best having a Sunday ride.  As, some lappers ( in previous races) easily passed him, the Hornet of course passed earlier ( hey, I'm giving the Hornet credit here) the Razor knew that this weekend was not what he had planned.  The Razor was furious with the mechanical failure and the lack of pit crew expressions.  The excuses run long and so is the season.  The Razor will be full of them and you'll be sick of hearing them at years end.  With Hornet finishing ahead of the Razor in 2 of the 3 races, he may take title as the number one rider on Team Swunk if he can keep up his consistent racing.

Next race on April 22nd. Come on out and cheer these losers, um I mean, racers on to victory in their own little fantasy race world.
