TEAM SWUNK NEWS
What Could've Been.
As of last race, May 28th, the Hornet had much to prove. He was to have his new Fox Shock and clutch for the June 18th race. Well, wouldn't you know it. After all the hard work that the pit crew had done the night before. Like, change the oil, put in the new clutch, adjust the clutch, put in the New Fox Shock ( we like to call this, the go fast parts). He had high hopes of cracking a Top 10 finish. But, those dreams came crashing down like a rock hitting a glass house. On only about the 10th lap in practice, the engine gave out. ( It had enough abuse). The rider always blames his equipment, like damn piece of sh*t and "what did you guys do to my bike" type of comments. We like to say, RIDER ERROR. Well, whatever the cause, it cost Team Swunk/Ice Level Sports some very important points. The field was small, (they were all afraid of the Hornet although they knew nothing of his new parts) and today was going to be a possible Top 7 or 8th spot. Well, after the incident, I caught up with the Hornet and asked what went wrong. "Well, I was near the end of the back straight when I heard a funny sound. (sure it wasn't someone passing you?). Then as I geared down, it went BOOM. I pulled in the clutch and geared down again. As I sprung out the clutch, the rear wheel locked and started to fish tale around. Good thing for my quick thinking, I pulled in the clutch and glided to a halt. The engine didn't sound to good. Sh*t." Well, we hope the Hornet has better luck next race. He has since sent his baby out for repairs and hope to be back in the saddle for the next race on July 9th. Hope you can all make it, this is where he definitely run out of excuses!
Its A MIRACLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You couldn't have written a better story book year for the Razor. After last weeks race of qualifying on the front row, the Razor has finally stood on the podium. Yes, ON THE PODIUM!!. I wouldn't have believed it either only I was there to witness it. The Razor actually had 2, COUNT 'EM, 2 third place finishes!! He first finished 3rd in the Stock 80 category, and then was held up in the Mod 50 class so he just used that race as practice for the main event, The GP OPEN Class. And Ladies and gentlemen, what an exciting race it was. I spoke with Razor and he gave the play by play on the final race of the day. "I actually had not a bad start, there were about 5 guys ahead of me into the first corner. As we approached turn 4, a double apex corner, number 67, feeling the pressure I was putting on him, went into the corner a little hot, locked up the rear and swung wide. Me and Mike (911) slipped pass and that's where the racing really began. Mike was ahead of me for the most part of the race, but I was slowly catching him and had to make a decision of where to pass if I wanted a podium. There was about 3 or 4 laps to go and we were coming down the back straight. He seemed to be going slower than usual, I thought he had engine problems. I thought this is it, I had to make my move, I showed him a wheel, he swung wide, and then I showed him my ass for the rest of the race. It sure felt good getting on the podium, especially twice in one day." Well, just a foot note, Mike Nagano ( The number 1 plate holder) was missing from both races. But, He**, that's racing, NO SHOW, NO DOUGH.
Until then, stay tuned for the next race July 9th. Ed.
