Back in the Saddle?

With the past couple of weeks going on's, the Hornet was indeed eager to get back in the saddle and start racing.  If you didn't know, the Hornet had a little, OK a big "Get Off"  on his street bike and has been in riding withdrawal for almost 3 weeks.  No harm done to himself other than a couple of bruised fingers, oh, and possibly ego.  But, with that behind him, he was ready to ride on Sunday.  Oops, spoke to soon.  As the earlier practice session had finished, some riders deemed the track a little dangerous in some spots.  At the riders meeting, the track officials acknowledged these concerns and were changing the track during the 1/2 hour practice session before qualifying.  With the Hornet seeming comfortable on his ride, with only complaints of " sore fingers ", he was in for another set back, or is that " Get Off ".  Yep, that's right folks.  He'd done it again.  Only this time it was PRACTICE!!.  All we saw was the Hornet holding his arm and helplessly trying to pick up his bike.  As a track official came to his rescue like a knight in shining armour. Um I mean, damsel in distress, um I mean, you know what I mean.  His bike and he were whisked away back to the pits.  I caught up to the Hornet to find out what happened.  " Well, I was feeling much more comfortable than the morning session.  I still wasn't fond of the "S's" in the back corner, but was coping with them.  We only had about 15mins left before qualifying and I thought I would try to put in some fast laps.  I was coming up on #88 Mike Nagano, he is usually fast, but at the end of the left sweeper was going a bit slower than me.  Well, I decided it was practice and was going to practice passing him.  Big mistake, just as the left turn ends, it switches back to the right.  That's the point I decided to try to take him on the inside.  Wrongo, I guess he didn't see me and cut back over to the right.  I had nowhere to go, if I went right, it would've been right into the cement curb.  I hit the brakes and the wheel sort of turned.  #@$@#&@*#&, I went down, end of story".  Needless to say, he told us what color the sky was and that he had a little Boo Boo on his right arm.  Not to mention the nice new scratch on his helmet.  Hmm, it might match the one on his street helmet.  The Hornet was Ok, the bike had a broken brake lever but was fixed in time for qualifying.

Clinched!!!!

With only 1 round left in the season, Razor has kept his position as the Number 1 rider on Team Swunk for next season.  There were high hopes at the beginning of the season for Hornet, if you recall the Hornet had beaten the Razor 2 out of the 3 mains in the first round.  But with the points lead going into this weeks round, the Razor added only more points to be uncatchable this year.  The Razor did what he had to and finished ahead of his teammate.  In the Stock 80 class, Razor on the front row got off to a great start and had a podium finish in his sites.  Only to be outdone on the last 2 laps by #88 Mike Nagano. ( Does this ring a bell? Think about it). Finishing 4th, with some good points, helped Razor secure his position in 6th Overall in the 80 Stock class.   In the Mod 50, Razor again was on the front row in 3rd only to finish 5th by the end.  The Hornet, oh yeah the Hornet.  I, uh, uh, I think he finished 8th.  Whatever it was, he'll notify me later that he finished higher.  In the GP Open it was a much different story, well different only that the Razor was not contending on a podium finish.  Got easily passed by the Do Rae Me teammates and relegated to 6th.  The Hornet's wrist and fingers were hurting him and was having trouble downshifting, he Sunday rode to 9th.

Let's hope these guys have a great finish in the last round which is on October 14th at Lansdowne Mall.  There are complaints of balding tires and bad clutches so if any of you readers would like to help sponsor our Dynamic Duo, more like Wounded Mule, they accept ca$h.

Thanks again to our fans for your support.  Taco, Ron, Shayne and Heath.  Your presence actually doesn't help them, they suck all by themselves.  Later ed.
