TEAM SWUNK NEWS

Back at 'ER again!!

Well, after last years "good but not great" showing from our Dynamic Duo, the boys were not going to get beat "lying down".  But unfortunately that is how it started out.  Razor, with his new tires that he thought would be much stickier, didn't even make it out of the first turn in the beginning of practice.  I caught up to him and asked him what happened, "Well, I knew they were new and had to "scrub" them in, but I didn't think that they would be that slippery.  I got back up, went around the track a couple more laps with no problems and thought to myself, OK, lets pick up the pace.  Whomp, down again.  I came back into the pits only to find there was still the manufacturer's sticker on the front tire.  Duh?  took it off and voila, grip. "  By the way Razor.  I looked at some other new tires that were on the racks for sale, the sticker said "Remove sticker before racing."  Next time read the instructions, you'll go faster.

Don't be snickering to early my friend Hornet.  You did have a bit of a spill as well, only you claimed to have at least completed 1 1/2 laps not 1 corner.  Meaning that due to the "good" performance from last year their sponsors bucked up for some new tires for the boys to outshine the competition.  Unfortunately, like the weather, our Razor and Hornet were overcast with a few shiny breaks.  The overcast parts were the Razors poor showing in the 80 Stock class where he was looking at a podium finish (3rd) and then in a blink of an eye finished 5th.  As for the Hornet, he complained of a very sore left wrist and had trouble closing the clutch.  Just a hint Hornet, alternate hands every other day.

The shiny parts for Razor was finishing an astounding 2nd in the 50 Mod and an out of character ( cause he is one ) 3rd in the GP OPEN.  I guess the Razor was right when he said it was because he had new tires.  Unfortunately folks, the grid only had about 8 riders and most were newbies.  For the Hornet, he spoke about his shiny moment, "For me, the best part of my first round of the season was not getting lapped.  My wrist was totally killing me today and had trouble gearing up and down.  In the Stock 80 class I was like 2 feet if that from being lapped at the Start/Finish.  Had a chat with some of the top riders about my riding ( I was wondering what all the swearing was about.  ed. ) and they suggested I take a little wider turn before throwing it in.  (By the way, that's a racing term you naughty people.  You know who you are.)  So, in the last race of the day, the GP OPEN, I tried some of these suggestions and lo and behold, I was actually racing!!!  At the end of the race I was  no where even close to being lapped."  Well now Hornet, if only your wrist was in better shape.  Practice practice practice.  Just don't squeeze to hard, we wouldn't want you to hurt yourself.

Now your up to date.  Next race F440 Track in Tsawwassen.  May 5th.  Practice starts at 9:30am.  Laughs and finger pointing not a second later.  Chow for now.  ed.
