Welcome to the Ethical Purchasing Resource Hub webpage. This site is intended to promote ethical purchasing choices and advocacy initiatives amongst members of the McGill community by providing a portal to resources on sustainable consumption. Ethical purchasing is a means for individuals, as consumers, to reclaim their citizens' rights and responsibilities by putting their money where their values are. Though seemingly small, these choices can help foster a more responsible economy that supports human rights, social justice, and environmental sustainability. As conscious consumers, we can move towards a more equitable trading system by reducing excessive consumption and making ethical choices in our buying and investments. Browse the left panel for resources on Fair Trade, Sweatshop Free, Socially Responsible Investment, and Organic purchasing. Under each topic, educate yourself through Awareness, take direct Action by purchasing from recommended alternative outlets, and support the growing ethical purchasing movement through Advocacy. We hope this site can act as a growing network to connect community members with ethical purchasing resources on campus and beyond. Please share your thoughts and suggestions on the Forum or by contacting us. |
