Our Certified FOODSAFE Instructors

Reg and Lynn Burks have over forty years of combined experience in the food service industry.

Reg Burks is a Certified Red Seal Chef with a successful career spanning over thirty years. Reg trained at Pacific Vocational Institute and then the British Columbia Institute of Technology in Vancouver, BC. He also studied abroad as an apprentice under Certified Chefs at the Intercontinental Hotel in Frankfurt, Germany. Reg gained valuable experience working in fine dining establishments and went on to own a fine dining French restaurant for a number of years before he began teaching. Reg holds a British Columbia Provincial Instructor Diploma and is certified by the Province of British Columbia as a FOODSAFE Instructor.

As well as teaching FOODSAFE since 1996, Reg designed The  Salvation Army Culinary Arts School Program and has been the program's Head Chef Instructor since its inception in 1993. The charter class consisted of four students; now the program hosts up to sixteen students at a time and is accredited by PCTIA. It provides the opportunity for students to obtain Levels One and Two Chef Apprenticeship Program equivalency.

Lynn Burks was in the restaurant business for over twelve years. During that time she was co-owner of a 120-seat fine dining restaurant. Lynn is the administrator for FOODSAFE Abbotsford. She holds a British Columbia Provincial Instructor Diploma and is certified by the Province of British Columbia as a FOODSAFE Instructor.
