Safer Suicide Prevention
Works to reduce
suicide risk among those in crisis, to assist family and friends who care
about them, and to promote healing among those bereaved by suicide.
Provides crisis management, individual and group counselling, suicide

The Crisis Intervention and Suicide Prevention
Centre of British Columbia is a volunteer organization committed to
helping people help themselves and others deal with crisis.
Women Against
Violence Against Women (WAVAW)
Operates 24-hour a
crisis line for survivors of rape or sexual violence, offering
information, immediate support, and referral. Also provides support
groups, public education through speaking engagements and information
fairs, and liaison with community and professional groups. Offers
advocacy; assistance with completion of legal forms and compensation
applications; information and referral; and accompaniment to police,
hospital, and court.
Crisis Pregnancy
Centres
These sites located
throughout the lower mainland provide information and peer counselling for
women with unplanned or problem pregnancies. Information is available
regarding pregnancy, abortion techniques, and abortion alternatives.
Centres also offer pregnancy tests, prenatal instruction, accommodation
search assistance, maternity and baby clothes, referrals, advocacy, and
post-abortion grief support. All services are free and confidential.

Vancouver Coastal Health:
Addictions
Drug and alcohol addiction can
affect anyone regardless of
age, race, religion, socio-economic status, education, or
geographic location. Addiction is an illness, and one that can be treated.
From residential treatment centres to out-patient detox services,
Vancouver Coastal Health provides support to help those struggling with
addiction to overcome their difficulties.

BC Men’s Resource
Centre
Works to ensure
balance in matters relating to men, and advocates change in areas of bias
and inequality. Areas of focus include parenting, anger management, and
