HARDCORE STREET SOUNDS May 2004 Anyone who loves The Ramones will love the Riff Randells. A brilliant all female 3 piece band who definitely should be bigger than they are and given the right label and promotion would be huge. Here's what Anne Marie had to say: HSS:First off for our readers who plays what in the Riff Randells and can you give a brief history of the band? RR:Ok, I'm Anne-Marie and I play drums, Kathy plays guitar and does lead vocals, and Felicity plays the bass. Kathy & I started the band in late 1999. HSS:I think to most it must be pretty obvious where you got you band name from but which one of you would be the closest in personality to Riff? RR:I think we all have parts of Riff's personality...especially her rebellious nature! HSS:You've brought out a fair bit of material so when can we expect a full player out from you ladies? RR:We're currently writing songs for our full length, and we're hoping to have it released this year sometime. We're not rushing though, because we want to make sure it's filled with hits! HSS:You were supposed to play the UK last year so are there any plans for getting over this year? RR:We'd love to play the UK this year, but probably won't be able to afford to, unless someone pays for our flights! We're saving up right now to go to Japan in the fall. Hopefully we'll be able to make it to the UK eventually. HSS:Your site is pretty much fun and from what I've heard from The Riff Randells that is pretty much in the same vein so how do you feel about political acts who ram it down peoples throats? RR:I don't care for political acts, but I if that's how they want their band to be that's fine. It doesn't really bother me because nobody is making me listen to them. HSS:I was reading somewhere that Foxx Herst from Live On Release had some connections with you people or was this just another bit of net mis-information? RR:Foxx Herst is Felicity, who is our bass player! HSS:So what do apart from the band or is this becoming full time for you? RR:We all work full time jobs, and Felicity also goes to school. The band is totally not full time for us, unless we're on tour. HSS:You obviously love The Ramones so what covers do you by them and what was so special to you about The Ramones? RR:We actually don't do any Ramones covers. When we first started the band we'd play "Rock N Roll High School" but we stopped that after a few shows. The Ramones were so special beacuse they wrote amazingly catchy songs. HSS:Being a rock n roll band you must love to party and drink so what's your fave drinks and who's the party animal of the band? RR:Kathy and me like drinking beer, and Felicity is more into mixed drinks. We all love to party, but I'd say Kathy is the biggest party animal. She can get quite wild! HSS:Sum up The Riff Randells to the public who've never heard of you? RR:The Riff Randells are a fun party band who play catchy punk songs and love to party!
