Skills, Tests, Achievement, Recognition are what the STARSkate program stands for. The STARSkate program at Riley Park Figure Skating Club provides group dance and figure skating skills instruction. Skaters can learn the first two Skate Canada levels of dance and skills (to Jr. Bronze).
The cost for STARSkate includes one hour of ice time with group instruction in dance and skills with our club coach. Skaters may choose to take tests, which are evaluated by Skate Canada evaluators. There are some extra costs involved in taking Skate Canada tests.
STARSkate Level II is a junior development program that provides the opportunity for skaters to progress through the Skate Canada levels of dance, skating skills and Freeskate in a small group format.
This program includes a total of 1 hour of ice for Skills and Dance and 30-45 minutes of ice for Freeskate development. In the Skills and Dance session, skaters will have 30 minutes of instruction in groups of up to 6 skaters and 30 minutes of practice time. In the Freeskate session, 15 minutes will be devoted to group instruction in groups of no more than 4 and the remainder is practice time. Any additional ice or practice lessons desired can be arranged through the coach.
