See the sites...
There are many unique
sites to see, and places to explore in and around the Nazko Valley.
Indian Head Rock, the
Lava Mine, Crater Lake, Nazko Falls, and old abandoned homestead sites,
are just a few of the things to see while visiting.

*Fishing:
The Blackwater River, the Nazko River, Marmot Lake, Brown Lake - the fishing
spots are too numerous to list. Rainbow Trout, Dolly Varden, and
Whitefish offer the
angler a tasty supper, or just an
enjoyable day on the water.
*Canoeing:
For the paddlers, the Nazko and the
Blackwater offer nice relaxing day
trips seeing the natural beauty of the area. Moose, deer, and bear
are frequently spotted along these rivers, as well as waterfowl, beaver,
otter, and mink. In August the Spring Salmon are up, and the sight
of them spawning in the gravel beds is a memorable experience. Experienced
white water canoeists can also enjoy the Baezaeko, the upper Nazko, and
the more difficult sections of the Blackwater.
Swimming:
The nearby Marmot Lake has a sand beach, and a perfect swimming hole for
the kids. The floating diving board, and the Tarzan rope offer some
fun for the big kids too!. The river right in front of our house
often has us splashing in it for a cool down on a hot afternoon.
*Horseback Riding:
We can always find a bale of hay, and a place to put your horse, if you
want to explore the area with horse-power. The area is latticed
with
old wagon roads,
making it excellent riding country. The fact that we are surrounded
by hundreds of square miles of Crown land, gives endless riding opportunity.
Horses can also be hired locally, from neighbouring ranches.
The Alexander MacKenzie Trail
- Spanning a distance of roughly 300 km from the Blackwater to Bella
Coola on the Pacific Coast, this trail was originally used as a major trading
route for the Native people in the area. It is now a hiking trail
- for serious hikers! Riversong Farms is close to the start of the
trail.
Other activities to enjoy are berry
picking, day hikes, and bird watching. Bald Eagles and Ospreys, rare White
Pelicans and Trumpeter Swans are just a few of the birds you can find here.
And, of course, our unspoiled
wilderness provides plenty of opportunity to see moose, deer, bear, otter,
beaver, and other local wildlife.
