At Riversong farms we
offer farm direct purchase of both cashmere (ready to spin), and fresh
goat meat. For details on our cashmere, see the "Cashmere Sales" page. Chevon (goat meat)
Chevon - or young goat,
is enjoyed by most of the world's population, and is a staple in international
foods. Greek, Italian, Middle Eastern, Asian, Caribbean, and
Indian cuisine feature this lean, healthy meat, particularly during Easter,
Ramadan and other special occasions.
Goat meat is not only
delicious, it is extremely healthy. The following nutritional information
is from the USDA Handbook #8, 1989, and the USDA Home & Garden Bulletin
Number 72.

Since goat meat has very
little fat, it is best cooked with a slow, moist heat.
Our meat goats are all
range and milk fed. We do not use growth hormones, nor concentrated
feeds containing protein from animal sources. We maintain a clean,
healthy herd so you can be assured of a top quality food product.
Our price for fresh kid
meat is $1.25/lb on the hoof, with a $75.00 minimum for earlier kids.
Dressing can be arranged for a fee of $15.00/goat.
Riversong Farms - the
"Artist's Retreat"
During the "in between
times", both Dan and Diane enjoy their own creative outlets - Dan with
stained glass work, and Diane with pottery.
Dan's stained glass work
reflects his years living and working in remote areas of BC and the Artic,
working in wildlife management and conservation.

Diane's pottery reflects
her years travelling in the Middle East, Asia, and South America, and her
love of Celtic Art.
Contact us directly to
discuss custom stained glass, or pottery.
