Children and Families

Child & Youth Mental Health Program
This program provides support for children and/or their families, and can help with:

  • stress management
  • anger management
  • grief and loss
  • depression or anxiety
  • suicide risk assessment
  • relationship and family issues
  • assertiveness training
  • addressing self-esteem issues
  • education and information
  • psychiatric illness/disorders
  • referrals for psychiatric assessment
  • referrals for psychological assessment/testing
This is a free service. Referrals are not required.

Infant Development Program
If you have a child from birth to age three, our Infant Development Consultant can come to your home to:
  • determine if your child is meeting developmental milestones
  • encourage growth in physical, intellectual and social skills
  • develop an activity plan for you and your child to promote healthy development
  • provide emotional support
  • assist with referrals to services relevant to your child's development
Height and Weight Screening for all three-year olds is also covered through this program. 
This is a free service.  Referrals are not required.

Supported Child Development
If you have a child with additional needs, aged 3 to 19, our consultant can:

  • provide support and consultation between families and day care staff, in order to promote inclusion of your child in a group, social, or day care setting
  • assist families seeking resources and funding for child care, and support and training for day care staff to meet your child's needs.
This is a free service.  Referrals are not required.

Family Supports Program

Referrals are not required if you would like support with:
  • parent-teen conflicts,
  • support for foster homes and other Ministry placement resources
  • child abuse prevention
  • prevention of child apprehension
  • stress management
  • budgeting and home management
  • family counselling
If your child has exceptional physical, social or behaviour needs, we can:
  • provide preventative support
  • provide emotional support
Referrals must come through the Ministry of Children and Family Development.
