  • help you develop a safety plan or plan your leave
  • connect you to a transition house if you need to seek legal or medical attention out of the community
  • advocate for your right to live without violence
  • provide you with information and resources to help you make your own choices
  • accompany you if you need to speak with the RCMP or attend court

Stopping The Violence Counselling and Outreach Program
If you are a woman who is experiencing, or has experienced, various incidents of violence--physical, sexual, emotional, mental abuse--a skilled counsellor is available to talk to.  A women-centered model of counselling empowers women to make decisions that enhance their personal growth.  We can:

  • provide individual or group counselling
  • help you address issues arising from victimization, such as depression, lack of self worth, and health problems
  • raise your awareness of the social and cultural context of violence against women
  • inform you of parenting issues related to children witnessing abuse in the home
  • advocate for your right to live without violence
  • connect you to other related services, such as transition houses, sexual assault centers, and alcohol and drug treatment programs
  • provide you with information and resources to help you make your own choices

This is a free service.  Referrals are not required.
