Police-Based Victim Services
If you are a victim of a crime or tragedy, a victim service worker can:

  • provide emotional support
  • advise you of legal procedures and processes
  • guide you through the legal system if you are required to give a statement or testify in court
  • accompany you to any court proceedings
  • assist you with any forms that need to be completed, such as a Victim Impact Statement
  • assist you in identifying your options
  • refer you to other appropriate services, such as counselling programs

This is a free service.  No referral is required.  If the RCMP are involved in your situation, they will make a referral for you. 

Critical Incident Stress Debriefing
Should you, your family, or your organization experience trauma from a crime or tragedy, our team can:

  • help you debrief about the situation
  • provide emotional support
  • assist with referrals to ongoing counselling services
This is a free service.  Referrals are not required.  Response is immediate.

Handyman
If you are an elderly or disabled resident of McBride or Valemount, a Handyman can help you with:
  • yard maintenance
  • snow removal
  • chimney cleaning
  • annual chores, such as washing outside windows
  • minor home repairs
To arrange a visit by the Handyman, please contact the office in your community.
There is a $5.00 per hour fee for this service.  No referral is required.

Lifeline™
This service provides 24 hour monitoring in order to assist seniors to remain at home safely and independently.  For a monthly fee, you will be provided with a help unit and a personal help button.  With one push of a button, assistance can be summoned immediately for both medical and safety reasons.

Northern Brain Injury Awareness and Prevention
Through a partnership with Prince George Brain Injured Group (BIG) Society, RVSS undertakes awareness and prevention initiatives in McBride, in order to further the understanding around acquired brain injuries and how they can be prevented.

2010 Legacies Now ~ Literacy
RVSS is in the process of developing a Community Literacy Plan for McBride.  The plan will identify literacy needs and issues relevant to residents, will build on existing community strengths, and create recommendations for the future.
