Ruping Mo is a senior meteorologist for research and development at the National Laboratory for Coastal and Mountain Meteorology, Environment Canada. His ongoing projects are to improve scientific understanding and prediction of high-impact weather in coastal and mountainous environments, and to facilitate technology transfer of scientific results, especially advances in high-resolution numerical weather prediction, into operational weather forecasting program in Canada.
Ruping holds a PhD in Applied Mathematics from the University_of_Cambridge (1990–1995). Prior to his current position, he was a postdoctoral fellow at McGill_University (1995–1998), a research scientist at the Center_for_Ocean-Land-Atmosphere_Studies (1998–1999), and an operational meteorologist with Environment_Canada (2000–2010).
