Alberta Cup, September 3rd - 4th 2011
Notice of Race
1. Venue
The Alberta Cup Regatta organized by the Alberta Offshore Sailing Association in conjunction with the Sunshine Bay Yacht Club (SBYC) and the Edmonton Yacht Club (EYC) will be held 80 km west of Edmonton at Seba Beach on the west end of Lake Wabamun, Alberta.
2. Rules
The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing.
3. Eligibility
Entry is open to all sailors who hold valid Membership of an ASA/CYA affiliated club. Temporary membership will be available to non-members @ $ 20.00. Wabum Marina Sailboats welcome. This is a CYA/ASA sanctioned event so please present your CYA membership card and/or your current yacht or sail club membership card at registration time. It's an insurance issue. If you are not currently a member of a sailing club, you may purchase a weekend membership for $20.00 from EYC who graciously offers this service. Payment by cash or check only, sorry no Visa or Interact, checks must be made payable to “Alberta Offshore Sailing Association”.
4. Classes
All cruisers, registered by 10:30 AM on race day will constitute a class.
5. Schedule
Saturday, Sept 3rd 10:00 – 10:30 Registration
10:30 Skippers meeting
12:00 Warning signal, First race of the day
Sunday, Sept 4th 12:00 Warning signal, First race of the day
No further races will be started after 15:00 hrs
Please note, both the EYC Fall Series and the Alberta Cup have their own registration process and entry fees. Scores from the Sunday races on Sept 4th will count for both Alberta Cup and Fall Series results.
6. Scoring
6.1 One race must be completed to constitute a series.
6.2 When fewer than 5 races are completed a boats series score will be the total of her race scores.
6.3 When 5-8 races are completed a boats series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.
6.4 When 9 or more races are completed a boats series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her two worst scores.
6.5 Scoring will be based on PHRF Time on Time (TOT) ratings as determined by a EYC/SBYC rating committee.
7. Entry Fees
Cruisers $ 45.00
8. Sailing Instructions
Will be available upon completion of registration at Edmonton Yacht Club
9. Amendments
Any amendment to this notice will be posted on our website no later than 3 days before race day.
10. Course
Cruiser course will be a windward-leeward course.
11. Disclaimer of Liability
Competitors participate in this regatta at their own risk, see rule 4. Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during or after the regatta.
12. Insurance
Valid liability insurance is the responsibility of all participants.
13. Radio Communication
Boats will not send or receive radio transmissions while racing that are not available to all boats. This restriction applies to cellular phones. Race management will communicate with the race fleet on channel 72.
14. Awards
Prices will be awarded to the top finishers in all classes. Prices will be award as follows:
2-5 boats: 1st Place
6-9 boats 1st & 2nd Place
10 or more boats 1st, 2nd & 3rd place
15. Rights to use name and likeness
In participating in this event, a competitor automatically grants the Organizing authority and the sponsors the right in perpetuity, to make, use or show, from time to time and at their discretion, any motion pictures, still pictures and live, taped or film television and other reproductions of him/her during the period of the competition for the said event in which the competitor participates and in all material related to the said event without compensation.
