Author’s notes for Shadow Magic – Xellos and Filia As I have said before, usually at least one half of my stories are based on a gripe of mine that I have about something. In the case of “Shadow Magic – Xellos and Filia” both halves were gripes. 1. I didn’t like how child Val was portrayed in most of the fanfic I had read. 2. I didn’t like how Xellos and Filia would ‘play house’ in so, so, so very many fics. So, I was going to try things my way . . . and, yare yare. In case you didn’t notice, it doesn’t really turn out much better towards the end of the fic. I got caught up in that trap too. So, now I feel sufficiently humble about Xellos and Filia fanfic to keep unnecessary criticism to myself. Also, if you’re wondering if I lost steam towards the end and gave up, because the ending is so open – you’re wrong. I don’t lose steam. That was all I planned to write from the beginning. That is actually as far as my original storyboards took me before I started writing. I never planned to take it further, but I do see a lot of potential for it, but considering the basis of my interest in it from the start . . . Basically, I’ll never add more chapters because I already learned what I wanted to learn from it. I’ve also sworn off Filia, and so I’ll never write another fic with her as a main character. However, there are more details as to what I plan to do with ‘Shadow Magic – Xellos and Filia’ on the submissions page. |
